SASHA HAXELL INVESTIGATES

INTRODUCING SASHA HAXELL:
KEEP ON INVESTIGATING
EPISODES:
THE GENERATION GAP: WHY ARE YOUNG PEOPLE BECOMING MORE POLITICAL?

Sasha Haxell meets Ruby Clifford and her family to discuss the rising interest in politics by younger people as well as the growing political disillusionment expressed by many adults. Sasha explores how voting behaviour shifts more conservative the older you are as well as the growing divisions between the views of young and old people on issues like Brexit, Coronavirus and equality. This all culminates in a round table discussion by people of all different ages where Sasha tries to find generational unity within the political spectrum.

Sasha Haxell meets student Chanelle Wilson Fowler as well as peers, teachers and experts of education to discuss the fairness of exams. Since the revelations of Scotland and Wales cancelling all exams, Sasha investigates the possibility of exam cancellation in the rest of the UK and whether this would be fair. For some, Coronavirus has highlighted the cruelty of exams whereas for others it has affirmed the need for exams to take place. Sasha finds out if anybody's right in this heated mess.
HOW DOES CORONAVIRUS CHALLENGE THE YOUTH?

Sasha Haxell meets A Level student Daniel Camp and his classmates for a different type of lesson. Sasha learns about the impact of Coronavirus on university applications, social lives, mental wellbeing and day to day activities. Sasha also meets Childline volunteers to discuss the rising use of helpline services by young people and healthy ways of coping with stress management. This culminates in an interview with Vicky Ford, parliamentary undersecretary for children and families, to debate the long term implications for Coronavirus on children across the country.
IS BRITAIN STILL RACIST?

Sasha catches up with her friend Zeinab Hussain for an in depth interview discussing racism in modern Britain. Zeinab discusses her experiences with education, prejudice and representation of Asian culture in the Media. Through this 45 minute discussion, Sasha gets to the bottom of why progress to deal with racial discrimination in the UK hasn't gone far enough- and what can be done to help young ethnic minorities in the UK.
IS PROM OUTDATED?

In the final episode of the series, Sasha catches up with Chanelle and her friend Jessie Gatland ahead of their school prom. Following BBC3 alumini James Corden's comments that prom would have been a "litany of rejection" if it was around when he was at school, Sasha Haxell asks whether the pressure on teenage girls to be the most glamorous of her peers and "say yes to the dress" is too much, instead merely reinforcing traditional gender stereotypes. Sasha consults prom dress fitters, concerned parents and the students throughout.
ALL EPISODES DROP ON 18TH DECEMBER ON BBC3
